Private tutor in Perth, United Kingdom

Education

I have a degree in English Studies and hold a Post-graduate Teaching Certificate (Secondary School) by the University of Alcala de Henares, Madrid, Spain. I have just completed a BSc Honours in Social Sciences with the Open University. In October I will start an MA in Applied Linguistic for Spanish Teaching.

Experience

I have 7 years experience of working as a Spanish Lecturer in the UK where I work for Perth College. At the college I teach Spanish to young adult and adult students at different levels, from beginners to advance. I enjoy and have been successful in working with groups of people with a wide range of different backgrounds and abilities. I am an enthusiastic individual with a strong commitment to modern communicative approaches to language teaching. I believe in this post, I engage my students’ interest in learning about my home country, Spain, its language, and the diversity of its culture. I also expose them to the culture of other Spanish speaking countries. In the past, I have been employed as a Spanish Teacher in Japan where I was teaching Spanish language to students, from 14 years old to adults, at all levels, using innovative material in language teaching mainly focused on multimedia environment. Previously, I have worked as a Teacher for a College in Madrid (Escuela Politécnica Giner), Spain, where I taught Spanish Grammar and English following the national curriculum. The range of ages was from 14 years old to adult students. I have several years of experience working as a private tutor, giving lessons to individuals and small groups. Previously I have taught, and at present I teach, lessons to reinforce the material students are covering at secondary school, in order to assist them with getting higher marks. I have previous teaching experience from when I worked for a language school in Madrid (Academy Street), Spain. I taught English to groups of primary and secondary students. At the moment, I volunteer for MEAD (Minority Ethnic Access Development project) where I assist teaching English to a group of adult students of Chinese background.
